Tasked with developing a new supplement range for dogs, my goal was to disrupt the petcare market by creating a compelling brand identity, packaging, and brand strategy. With a focus on positioning the brand effectively in a competitive landscape, my challenge was to create a name, branding, and packaging that would resonate with pet owners.

Method

To kickstart the project, I conducted a comprehensive branding and product naming workshop to gain insights into how to position the brand effectively in the market. This workshop helped me understand the target audience, market trends, and competitive landscape. This newly found knowledge allowed me to feel confident in the direction I wanted to take the brand and so I began the creative process by developing the logo mark for Wag and Whisker. I explored various directions, including illustrative, typographic, and photographic, to determine the most suitable approach. My aim was to create a design that was bold, bright, and playful, ensuring that Wag and Whisker would stand out on pet store shelves.

Conclusion

The final packaging design strikes a balance between personality and authority, combining the playful logo mark with a structured layout for the product description text. The bold and bright colors used in the packaging ensure that Wag and Whisker stands out from the competition while conveying a sense of vitality and wellbeing. By creating a cohesive brand identity, Wag and Whisker is positioned as a trusted and innovative provider of pet supplements, appealing to pet owners who prioritise the health and happiness of their canine companions.
