Designing a magazine from scratch
Art Direction and execution of a controversial magazine
This self initiated project was conceived to disrupt and challenge norms surrounding food cultureby utilising controversial imagery and topics. The challenge lay in creating a magazine that not only grabbed attention but also engaged readers in thought-provoking discussions on topics ranging from food production to consumption habits.
The magazine was primarily driven by the photography and art direction of the issues chosen to explore, supported by research and interviews that were conducted and finally pieced together with thoughtful layout and typography. A special consideration was made to the paper-stock, which changes throughout to guide the reader through the different topics.
Conclusion
Here I developed all the necessary skills to produce a magazine. From photography to typography, layout and book binding, I solely took on every aspect to deliver content that I'm still proud 9 years later. After a successful degree show, the magazine was chosen to be exhibited in Leeds art Gallery and Gallery Munro House.
